OKINAWA, Japan – Carl Tamayo scored 13 points to help Ryukyu Golden Kings pull off an 83-78 win over Taipei Fubon Braves on Saturday in the 2023 EASL Champions Week at the Okinawa Arena.

Tamayo was one of the key players in the victory as the Golden Kings ended play in Group A with a 2-0 win-loss record.

It was Tamayo’s first game in the Ryukyu’s home court which also serves as one of the venues in this year’s Fiba Basketball World Cup that Japan is co-hosting with the Philippines and Indonesia in August.

Despite ending up undefeated, however, Ryukyu was relegated ti the battle for third place due to a lower point differential with Anyang KGC.

The Golden Kings will take on the Bay Area Dragons on Sunday.

The result also arranged an all-Korean showdown for the championship on Sunday as Rhenz Abando and the Anyang KGC will take on the Seoul SK Knights for the crown.

Jack Cooley had 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Golden Kings, who played without Allen Durham against the winless Braves.
